Position : Blasting Assistant - Across South Africa
We are looking for a Blasting Assistant.Responsibilities :
- Blasting assistant may sign for receiving of explosives but the Blasting Certificate Holder must still sign the delivery slip during the day or at the end of the shift in MO office.
- The blasting assistant must ensure that explosives are delivered to the working place not more than 2 hours before charging up commences.
- Assist the miner in preparation of primers for secondary hang ups.
- Assist the miner with timing of blasting rounds.
- Assist the miner in preparation of Mud Blast.
Required profile for job ad : Blasting Assistant - Across South Africa
- Grade 12 / N3 / Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
- Competent B and Blasting Assistance Underground certificate
- Required classification as per VTS testing for specific role Orange
- Valid EB/Code 8 Driver's License
- Computer Literacy - MS Office Suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook) (advantageous)
- Be prepared to work shifts, do standby duties, call-outs, and work overtime as per what the role may require Must have strong administrative and organisational skills
- Ability to work under pressure, be independent and a self-starter
- Medical Certificate of Fitness to work underground. Medical assessment will include vertigo and claustrophobia amongst others. Able to tolerate physical exertion
- The post is dependent on the successful completion of the Company’s pre-employment protocol such as qualifications verification, relevant psychometric and technical assessments and security clearance.
Experience & knowledge required:
- Minimum of 1 year’s practical experience in an underground mining environment
- Sound knowledge and experience of:
- Underground blasting practices and operations
- Safety, Health and Environmental Legislation and standards applicable to underground mining.
